In September, 2006, Richard started his 851 mile, solo kayak trek from Dahlonega, GA (NW of Lake Lanier in Georgia), to the Gulf of Mexico.
Richard is the only person to have hiked up the NW Georgia hills to the actual headwaters of the Etowah River and then (from Dahlonega, GA), paddled the river down to where it runs into the Mobile Bay (the Gulf of Mexico).
This trip was well documented by the local newspapers along the way. As these newspapers change, or archive their articles, our links to them become obsolete. We are working on getting copies of all the articles to keep here.
If you have any photo’s or stories you’d like to share about meeting Richard on his trip, please contact us!
A Google Earth Map file of Richard’s GPS log for the Etowah 2006 Trek is available too.
